Tenerife 2020
6 March – 14 March
Carnivals are one of the most important events in the Canary Islands. Santa Cruz in Tenerife is the second most popular and famous Carnival in the world (after Rio in Brazil). It is a great social event, even causing public institutions and stores to slow down working times. Hence, the city adapts to the event’s schedule. Consequently, the carnivals are a huge family event: all families are involved; from choosing the theme (which is different every year), to the planning and preparation of the magnificent #parade costumes. Therefore, on these very special days, both indoor and outdoor parties are hosted all over the islands for everyone to see and enjoy!
When the main street events are over in Santa Cruz (the capital of Tenerife), Los Gigantes in Santiago del Teide takes over. This way, both locals and visitors have two extra amazing weeks of events. The Carnivals start with the election of the Carnival Queen, where the real beauty of Tenerife compete. After this, the carnival ends with the “Burial of the Sardine” – a street party, lots of dancing and live events.
People are coming from all over the world to celebrate the Carnival in Tenerife, so what are you waiting for? Come on over for a great week of sun, sea and street parties. Every age and size is welcome to truly enjoy life!
